overnighter

as a rule, i don't do lock-ins. i take some heat for it, because most youth directors do tons of overnights and lock-ins. i just don't. first of all, getting volunteers is like pulling teeth. second, the kids in the morning are different kids than arrived the night before. they're surly and cranky, and their parents think something happened to make them behave that way. well, they're right - those kids didn't sleep that night! this video truly sums up why i just don't do lock-ins.

however, a month ago a friend told me about a girl band rock concert happening downtown. i decided to take a chance, and last night, took 23 middle and high school girls to the concert at a club downtown. it. was. insane. but really fun! seriously, it was considered work to go to the concert, eat pizza, play sardines at 2am in the dark church, and talk about being God's princesses! and the girls were really great.

Husby got to church early this morning and we were all still sleeping. he left coffee at the end of my sleeping bag :) after breakfast, all us girls went to the service in our pj's, and definitely sat in the front row. nobody puked, no alarms went off, no one got left downtown, there was no drama... overall a great night! :)
