what a day. it's 11:55pm and we just walked in the door. here's the breakdown:
8am: realize the shower isn't working, but hop in anyway.
915am: arrive at grandpa's 15 minutes late.
9:16am: sit in the middle of the back seat between Husby and my brother as we drive to spooner, wi
11:45am: arrive at train station in spooner, wi
12-330pm: sit on train, eat buffet thanksgiving meal, look at scenery, roll eyes at Husby and my brother acting like 4 yr olds, give thanks for family.
330-6pm: drive home, again in the back seat between Husby and my brother
6-7pm: stop at every gas station/walgreens looking for a newspaper
715pm: arrive at dad's house, 15 minutes late. eat more food.
10:15pm: receive phone call from grandpa. he wants to put on a luncheon for 25+ at his bachelor pad home tomorrow at noon. i am granted the task of telling him - my beloved, 87 yr old, just lost his wife, overtired grandpa - that this is impossible. he snaps at me, i cry, we both feel awful. Husby is on the phone with my mom trying to fill her in and get her to referee. the three of us have a little phone triangle and come to the conclusion that we will let someone else plan the meeting place. grandpa is still sad when he hangs up, and i still feel awful.
11:30pm: we leave dad's house and drive home.
like i said, what a day! but what would a holiday be without holiday family drama? and too much food? and a turkey thawing in the bathtub?
